Final Donations according to my count is right at $11800.00 not including any donations sent directly to the AFBA that I do not know of.  I have asked the remaining donators to please send all donations to the Alberta Food Bank Directly from this point on as I have already forwarded the checks we have.  Thank You for your participation.  It was greatly appreciated.

Great Success Getting Ready For The Big Game

Tour Of The Edmonton Food Bank

Don and I (Mark) just came back from a tour of the Edmonton Food Bank.  It was an impressive display of cooperation that ensures help for a very large population.  Well done to the Staff and Volunteers we met today.  Some who have been volunteering for nearly 15 years.  What we do for 6 days pales in comparison to wht these people do weak in and week out.

Walking in to the stadium

Walking in to Edmonton was fantastic.  Everyone was honking and waving at us and it felt good to have made it.  It was a long walk in but the weather was the warmest it had been and we were full of enthusiasm and couldn't believe we had done it.  Thanks to the police for the escort in as this made walking through the city much easier.  Wee Ha we did it...we walked over 300 kms in the wind, extreme cold, up and down hills, tons of traffic, early mornings, late nights...but boy does it feel good!!  The support and enthusiasm from the communities we stopped in was amazing.  We have all enjoyed this experience and we are all looking forward to watching the game on Sunday. GO RIDERS GO!

Made it To The Edge

Well, we are at the edge of the city waiting for the police escort.  Hope to see people out and about on our way.  We will be leaving th e South Edmonton Common at 1pm and making our way to Commonwealth from gateway blvd.

Getting ready to leave Leduc

It an another early day and we are getting ready to head out on our last leg.  We are all looking forward to getting to Edmonton.  Thanks to Kosmos in Leduc last night for fantastic food and great support.  Today is supposed to be a little warmer and our walk is around 32 km. 

Day Five...Waahooo!!!

Everyone was in good spirits today.  The weather was cold...minus 30...but no wind like yesterday.  Alison finally recovered from the flu and we had all the kinks worked out.  We had a nice little system going and had our walkers in and out of the motorhome in good time.  Lots of beeping and waving from the traffic going by.   It was a shorter day and we were all happy for that.  Thanks to the girls in Millet that gave us coffee and hot chocolate....it was much appreciated on a cold day.  We are now in Leduc and will be heading to Kosmos tonight and hope to see all who can make it there.

Problems on the Road

Sometimes you need to make sure you don't get carried away.  Anita had to learn the hard way.  Actually we had a bit of an issue with the police with the trip.  They were very good and Alberta Transportation woked hard to get thing cleared up and put us back on the road. They even let Anita continue on with us
